Green with Envy

Friday, August 28, 2015

Having a major moment with green right now and seriously considering re-doing my bedroom in all green and white. The palm leaf print was everywhere this past year, but I am more of a magnolia leaf girl. It's a great leaf to include in fall floral arrangements because the top part of the leaf holds that rich green color, while the under side is a warm copper brown seen here, herehere, and my favorite here (which was the inspiration for our wedding floral table runner!)

I also really love overdyed oriental rugs in bold colors like the one below. Can't get over the color of this one too!!

A Walk in the Park Powder Room

Thursday, August 27, 2015

I have always had the biggest crush on Osborne and Little's "Best in Show" dog wallpaper from their "Walk in the Park" line. And since discovering it, I have dreamed of the perfect little first-floor powder room with golden fixtures and light quartz/granite flooring. I'm obsessed with dogs, and I think the half-bath is a great space to have a little fun since scale is so small. The black, white, and gold gives a little cheeky Parisian vibe without being too loud.

Love, Love Love this unexpected nook of the house!

Gingerly

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

I have a thing for ginger jars. Typically found in china blue/white colors, these little delicates are great for adding pattern and texture to your room. Lucky for me, my favorite colors are navy and white, but there are definitely options out there in other colors families (see here, here, here, here, here and here - also LOVE this one). They are fun to use simply as decorative pieces, but keep an eye out for different functional pieces with the look of the ginger jar like the lamps and vase below. I am looking to move into the room I designed below STAT.

In the Field

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

A fall activity I really enjoy is taking long walks with the dogs in the fields at my family farm. I love to grab a cocktail, bundle up and head out for some fresh country air (that's sort of like exercise right??). I don't get out there as often as I'd like, but when I do, it is one of my top happy places. Long pants and boots are a must (because ticks, sticks, and prickers). Below are a few styled looks that are perfect for a fall frolic in the fields.

Would you pick outfit 1, 2 or 3?

For the Love of Leather

Monday, August 24, 2015

Leather is not just having a moment. It has found a way to cross over style lines and transcend seasons proving its hear to stay. When I think of 70's, 80's, and 90's leather, I think of rock & roll and biker gangs (actually I really think of Can't Buy Me Love and Cindy Mancini's to die for white suede fringe jacket…). In this decade however, there has been an incredible transition to a preppier, sportier, classic genre. And.It.Works.

As with any trend it's great to focus on one piece so as not to over do it (please, no full-on leather outfits). Also, don't forget that there are different types of leather you can work with (yes, suede is a type of leather). A few of my favorite pieces are below. Some of the top contenders are the leather driving gloves, the high waisted leather shorts, the leather brimmed baseball cap, and a great shearling jacket is at the top of my Fall wish list for the upcoming season. I also own those Paige leather leggings and they are amazing (leather on the front knit leggings on the back).

How do you wear your leather?

The Velveteen Jewel Tone

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Jewel tone velvet can bring a room alive. It can seem intimidating to decorate with, but really all you need is one tone, and one piece to add some major character to your space. If jewel tones aren't your thing, try a softer velvet in a calmer pastel color (I love this piece).

Here is some inspiration for adding a little velvet into your everyday living space.

Which color would you work with?

Top Picks Round-Up: Fall Bootie Edition

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

This time every year I start itching for September aka the start of Fall. That's the time I can slowly start to transition in booties and light sweaters (like half versions of tall boots and full on cashmere/chunky sweaters). A bootie is typically my pick over a tall boot since they seem to elongate my legs and are also just easier to pull on and run out the door mastering the pant/boot tuck is a skill that takes practice and patience right?

Below is a round-up of my favorites for this upcoming season. We're seeing a lot of fringe which I LOVE. I'm also definitely in the market for an oxblood bootie (that Minkoff braided pair is so gorgeous). Two of my other favorites on the list are the slouchy Kristen Cavallari boot (3rd boot, 2nd row) and the French Connection stacked heel tassel bootie (2nd boot, 1st row).

Which are your favorites?

Blushing

Monday, August 17, 2015

Summer is winding down, and bottles of Whispering Angel are becoming harder and harder to find on your local wine store shelf (I've literally struck out at two stores in a row now - WHY?). One trend that is here to stay however, is the blush tone. This pretty pastel has been everywhere this past year, but it's not over yet. I am loving this color for the fall paired with a neutral bootie (my favorites round-up coming soon). It's soft, girly, and adds a clean polished touch to any outfit.

I'm obsessed with those feminine blush accessories (top right corner - that watch is SO good) but blush toned shoes are my favorite accessory right now (see my blush oxfords here and check out this more affordable version of the rockstud flat here).

I'm also majorly crushing on that baby pink Panama hat. How do you wear your blush tones?

Have a great Monday!

PJ Party!

Saturday, August 15, 2015

All I want to do is lay in bed all weekend and binge watch Friday Night Lights (I know I am super late to the party here but hellllooo Tim Riggins...). I love a good pajama set and a good lounge sesh. These are a few of of my current favorites. As I am creeping up on my 25th birthday (fine I am going to be 30), I may need to invest in those Hangover Club pjs since I am the president of that club (why do hangovers get so much worse with age?!).

Hope you all have a lovely sleepy weekend!

This or That: Silk Scarves & Stripes

Friday, August 14, 2015

Though I am counting down the days until fall, it will be hard to let go of white skinnies and summer stripes. A fun way to slowly transition the outfit through the seasons however, is to start adding a colorful patterned scarf into the mix. I love the Parisian vibe on the right with a short silk scarf tied neatly around the neck. You can also go with a larger piece wrapped multiple times around (as seen on the left) which is great as temps slowly start to drop in the evening or if you are out by the water where it's cooler. Mixing the pattern of the scarf with the bold stripe is definitely a "Do" if you ask me. Add in some simple gold studs or bracelets, an easy flat, and light jacket (or this, this or this) come fall and you are ready for a day at the wineries/pumpkin patch/apple orchard/beer garden/skeet shooting/bonfire/mountain weekend/football game (am I alone here? Fall!Fall!Fall!)
